A handful of Norwegian tomato producers are protesting the World Trade Organization (WTO) talks, fearing that foreign tomatoes will be allowed on the local market. The consumers are not worried. It will not be a big loss if the tasteless local red fruit they sell in Norway is replaced by produce that has been allowed to see the sun. At supermarkets in Oslo there are three types of tomatoes: Good imported fruit, cheap local and more expensive local tomatoes. The latter are called "taste" tomatoes. Some shops advertise "taste tomatoes that are tasty". js
